Journey to Neptune is my exploration of intuitive abstract painting, a space where creativity flows freely, and my mind can escape. With a background in design and communications, much of my career has revolved around product development and innovation. While fulfilling, creating for market demands can differ vastly from the intuitive process of making art straight from the imagination.
Through Journey to Neptune, I reconnect with the passion I first discovered during my design studies when I fell in love with painting and drawing across various mediums. I primarily work with acrylic paint, posca, pastel, and charcoal and enjoy building up layers. Each piece evolves naturally and is heavily driven by my mood and feelings.
Additionally, my work is often inspired by space, especially the vibrant blues of Neptune, deep dark galaxy colours, the pink and purples of the Milky Way, and bright starbursts. We know very little about Neptune and other far-away planets, and I like to let my imagination flow, considering what or who might live there and what life could be like if conditions were right.
Colour is a constant source of inspiration. It can heal, soothe, and uplift simultaneously, and I like to bring that energy into everyday life.
I enjoy creating works on paper, canvas and reclaimed Australian hardwood.
